Nail Art Heart Nails for Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day may have passed, but who says the romantic vibes have to end? If you're like me and love wearing nail art, then this Pinterest nail inspo is for you.
We love heart nails! Hearts are super versatile when it comes to nail art. Whether you're into minimalist designs or full-on glam, there's a a heart nail style to suit everyone. I normally go with a more minimal and simple style, it’s always fun to add a rhinestone here and there though!
Nail Art Ideas
Now, let's talk about inspiration. Here are some Pinterest heart nail art ideas that'll make your design choice harder than it already is, only because you’ll want everything.
Classic Red Hearts: You can never go wrong with classic red hearts on a neutral base. Keep it simple yet stunning by painting one accent nail with a heart or go all out and decorate every nail with tiny hearts for a cute and cohesive look. These are so fun to add to a classic french tip too. Overlap the heart a little bit on the white french!
Ombre Hearts: Add a twist to your nail art with an ombre effect. Start with a light base colour and gradually blend in darker shades to create a gradient effect. If you’re in a salon, ask if they do velvet nails! They can use the magnetic polish to create an ombre effect with the light.
Glitter Hearts: For the glam girlies out there, I know you want to add glitter. Will you go with a glittery base and use a nail art brush to create hearts with negative space? Or are you opting for nude nails with glittery hearts? I’ve never tried this but maybe one day!
Negative Space Hearts: Use the negative space trend and leave some areas of your nails bare to create heart-shaped cutouts. This is a fun and modern twist, I’ve mentioned it above and it could be used with any style!
Add a bow: I am really loving the current bow trend and a drawn on bow is super sweet. I have seen some Valentine’s Day nail art designs with a 3D bow but I feel like I’d be ripping my hair out with something like that on my hand everyday.
DIY Nail Art Tips
This year I had my nails done in-salon but if you’re doing DIY, these are my favourite tips to help you nail the perfect manicure at home:
Prepare your nails
Sometimes I do this the day before. I file my nails down, cut my cuticles and use a good cuticle oil overnight.
Use the right tools
I have my favourite nail art tools linked on my Amazon Storefront here. It makes such a difference using nail art tools instead of just trying to wing it with the brush.
Use gel polish and a nail lamp
To keep nail art lasting as long as possible, I always use gel polish and a gel top coat. It’s a lot less likely to chip and it’s a lot easier to do nail art with, it doesn’t dry until you’ve cured it under the lamp so it’s great for wiping off easily if you’ve made a mistake.
Remember to have fun with your Valentine's Day nail art, it’s always better when you step a little bit out of your comfort zone.
